Settling into Culebra

Have been in Culebra for about a week and a half now, settling into life here. John returned to England 4 days ago and I’ve been spending time doing boat maintenance, swimming across the harbour for exercise and meeting some of the other live-aboard cruisers and the local cats ashore at an informal gathering spot jokingly called the “yacht club”. I’ve had some restaurant food ashore, hamburgers, tacos and pizza and managed to get my hair cut.

Turned out my generator’s heat exchanger developed an internal leak that manifested itself by the coolant overflow tank filling up with saltwater and leaking into the engine room and onto the generator’s alternator, which is no longer charging the generator’s start battery. I’ve ordered a new heat exchanger from the outfit in Florida that made the original, a new alternator and a new regulator. Hopefully I will have all these parts in hand by mid January and can install them and get the generator back to normal operation.
