After a few days of doldrums we finally found some wind and are making more progress in a southerly direction towards Mindelo. We have stowed the spinnaker and are flying the Genoa and main, both reefed. Hydrovane is doing a great job at steering the boat with no drain on the house bank batteries, really great piece of equipment. Saw some lightning last night on the horizon several times. Really enjoyed seeing that as well as lots of bioluminescence in the waves last night on my midnight to 3 am night watch ((but impossible to capture on camera).

Yes, we had mid-30 knots of wind, but now down to low 20s. The bigger challenge is the 5 meter waves moving under the boat as we sail downwind in a following sea. They make the boat roll quite a bit, so when moving around the cabins we have to hold on – “one hand for the boat, one hand for you”.
