This should be our last night at sea, we are now 120 miles from a waypoint just North West of Barbados, so expect to be in Port St Charles tomorrow night sometime between 6 – 10 pm local time (UTC -4 hours).
Have been busy working on boat challenges yesterday and today. Yesterday morning woke up to my 6:00 am watch to learn that the genset had stopped putting out AC current, today climbed down in the engine room and took apart the control box to see that it has “fried” another capacitor. Phoned a few stores in Barbados and found one that stocks the capacitor I need, so will be two or three there on Monday when they open.
For some yet mysterious reason the Victron SmartSolar MPPT controller has also stopped charging, even though it gets 136 volts from the panels during the day. As a result of this and the fired capacitor, we have had to be running the main engine to recharge the house bank batteries. Since the engine is running, I’ve put it in gear and are now motoring towards Barbados.
Many dolphins with us for a long time today, but I didn’t get my camera out. A few days ago I did however take a picture of the meal I cooked for the crew. Running very low on fresh vegetables, but still turned out very delicious!
