Land Ho!

Woke up to a very calm sea state and started getting Nakee ready for port. Stowed the Hydrovane sail away. Got the dingy off the pilot house roof onto the foredeck, inflated it, got it on the halyard and over the side into the water, then to the back of the yacht and (thanks Andy) clipped into the davit lines and hoisted up on the davits. Inflated the fenders, got them on the sides of the boat, flipped in board, ready for port. Hoisted the Barbados and quarantine flags on the starboard spreader.

Then the wind got up to 25 knots and waves got up to 4-5 meters on the starboard beam, a very heavy sea state. Took a rouge wave over the cockpit which drenched both bunks in the aft cabin, as I had only closed all the port lights but had left the overhead hatches open for ventilation (32c inside). That wave also deposited a flying fish on the aft deck, poor guy.

It is however all good as we shouted “land ho” when Barbados became visible. Now only a few hours to get around the top of the island and into Port St George!
