After a long rainy winter spent in Lefkada Marina and April to early June in the Port of Lefkada, Nakee finally put to sea again this past Wednesday, July 8th.
This time I’m no longer flying the “one” signal flag and I’m no longer single-handing! My wife Pitcha moved from Thailand to Greece a few weeks ago and I have my friend Antonio aboard. The crew is rounded out by ship’s cat Leya.
We left Lefkada on Wednesday, stopped to refuel and then sailed to Nidri. From there we sailed to Vathy on Ithaca and had wind in the upper 20kts. It was Leya’s first real experience sailing with Nakee heeled over and she was a bit seasick. Today we are on our way South to Kefalonia and it is much calmer, of course with what little wind there is from South, where we are trying to go.
Our ambition is a slow, counter-clockwise circumnavigation of the Peloponnese, hoping the Corinth Canal remains open for our eventual return to Lefkada in late October.
