Christmas Cove, Great St James Island

Today I said goodbye to Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas and motored East into the wind about 8 miles, over to Christmas Cove on Great St James Island. It is much quieter here without the street traffic of Charlotte Amalie, but inter island ferries pass close by creating strong waves that set monohulls rolling and my hammock on the aft deck rocking. This is my view:

When I anchored in about 9 meters a big turtle surfaced near me. I dove on the anchor and the water is cleared here too.

Earlier today I went ashore and my friend Skip, fellow Taswell owner, took me around grocery shopping in his car and to get my scuba tank refilled. I used about 100 bar yesterday, scraping barnacles off Nakee’s prop and replacing a prop shaft anode that mysteriously went missing (possibly as a result of a collision with a giant log off Western Puerto Rico).

Now that Nakee is well provisioned I’m going to clear out of the US and sail over to Jost Ban Dyke Island in the BVI and clear in there.

Here are some pictures from Charlotte Amalie
