After a 250 nm passage that took 37 hours from Bequia North to Antigua, I’ve arrived and anchored in 2.5 meters and have opened a celebratory “anchoring beer” to enjoy as I watch the sunset. Most of the passage was under sail – often 9+ knots – but I was becalmed a bit today just North of Guadeloupe. Antigua looks very unspoiled by shoddy construction, a nice change from many islands so far. Tomorrow I will launch the dingy (must think up a name for the dingy – any suggestions?) and go into the inner harbour to clear in and to try and buy a new scuba mask – I accidentally stood on mine and broke the glass when Nakee lurched unpredictably from a ferry wake at Bequia.
I have a few days before a friend arrives on Sunday for a short visit, so may explore other anchorages and dive spots around Antigua in the meantime.
