Due to an errant “riding turn” that broke an electric winch on the passage from Dartmouth down to the Canaries, Nakee has been stuck in Las Palmas on Gran Canaria waiting for about €60 of plastic replacement parts to arrive from Sweden.
There are much worse places to be stuck – I’ve joined the local fitness / health cub and am swimming a kilometre in their outdoor pool every day and have enjoyed New Year’s Eve fireworks at Las Cantares Beach and the Three King’s Eve party in Las Palmas’ old town – Triana. The food is good, the sunshine is warm and the wine is very good and – affordable compared to UK prices.
As son as the parts arrive and are installed, hope to re-provision Nakee and be off to Mindalo, Cap Verde before heading across the pond to Trinidad.
